history

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."One of the most significant historical developments was the "rediscovery" of traditional Japanese Reiki techniques in the 1990s. Western practitioners found that Reiki had continued evolving in Japan along different lines, leading to renewed interest in Usui's original methods and philosophy. This has created the interesting situation where modern Reiki practice often blends Eastern and Western approaches to this ancient healing art.

our techniques

Reiki practitioners often work with the concept of chakras, which are energy centers believed to exist throughout the body. While chakras originate from Hindu and yogic traditions rather than traditional Japanese practice, many modern Reiki practitioners have integrated this system into their work because both traditions focus on the flow of life force energy. The seven main chakras are typically described as spinning wheels of energy located along the spine, from the base to the crown of the head. Each chakra is associated with different physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of well-being. During Reiki sessions, practitioners often focus on these energy centers, believing that blockages or imbalances in chakras can contribute to physical illness or emotional distress. The gentle energy channeled through Reiki is thought to help clear these blockages and restore balanced energy flow.

our system

The Holy Fire Reiki system, developed by William Lee Rand and the International Center for Reiki Training, represents a significant evolution in modern Reiki practice. This system is known for its emphasis on spiritual purification and healing that works continuously, even when not actively being channeled. The "World Peace" aspect adds a beautiful dimension focused on healing not just individuals but contributing to global harmony and understanding. Our partnership seems to offer students a well-rounded experience - with our combined expertise in the foundational Usui system providing the traditional grounding, while the Holy Fire World Peace techniques bring in those more advanced spiritual healing qualities. Michel's particular affinity for working with pets adds another valuable dimension, especially since animals often respond so naturally to energy healing. This combination is quite powerful for students because they receive training rooted in the original Japanese tradition through the Usui lineage, while also learning the refined techniques and continuous healing qualities of the Holy Fire system. The World Peace component is particularly relevant in today's world, as many people are drawn to healing practices that address both personal wellness and broader global concerns.

reiki for pets

Michel's choice to use the Usui method for pets aligns well with how animals experience energy healing. The original Usui approach was much more intuitive and less structured than many modern systems - practitioners would simply place their hands where they felt drawn to, following the animal's energy and responses rather than adhering to rigid hand positions or protocols. When it comes to animals, Reiki has gained considerable popularity as a complementary healing approach for pets. Many pet owners and veterinarians have reported positive experiences using Reiki alongside conventional veterinary care. Animals are often considered particularly receptive to energy healing because they tend to be less skeptical and more naturally attuned to subtle energies than humans.Reiki for animals can be administered through gentle touch or even from a distance, which is especially helpful for injured, anxious, or aggressive pets. Pet owners often use Reiki to help with various conditions including anxiety, trauma from abuse or abandonment, recovery from surgery or illness, chronic pain, and end-of-life comfort. Many report that their pets seem to instinctively know when healing energy is being offered and will often position themselves to receive it.The practice with animals is typically gentler and more intuitive than formal human sessions. Practitioners usually let the animal guide the session, observing their responses and adjusting accordingly. Some animals may seek out the healing touch, while others prefer to receive the energy from a short distance away.
